BEAUTY & THE BEAST
Illustrated by: Hameem Fatima
In a small, picturesque village nestled at the edge of an enchanted forest, there lived a young woman named Belle. She was the epitome of grace and beauty, and her charm was equally matched by her kindness. Belle's heart radiated warmth and her laughter brought joy to everyone who knew her.
The village, with its cobbled streets and cozy cottages, was a place where time seemed to stand still. It was here that Belle lived with her aging father, Maurice. Though they had little in terms of material wealth, their love and companionship were immeasurable treasures.
One fateful day, Maurice set off on a journey to a neighboring town to showcase his latest inventions. The skies grew dark, and the heavens opened up with a torrential downpour as he embarked on his return journey. Lost in the heart of the mystical forest, he stumbled upon a hidden castle that appeared as though it had emerged from a tale of forgotten legends.
The castle was shrouded in mystery, surrounded by ancient trees and entangled vines. As he ventured inside, he was met with a spectacle he could hardly believe. The castle was inhabited by objects that seemed to possess life, including talking candlesticks, teapots, and even a clock that chimed with humanlike laughter.
Maurice's journey led him deeper into the castle, where he ultimately came face to face with its elusive master—the Beast. The Beast, with a head like a lion and a body that appeared to be a grotesque amalgamation of various animals, was a fearsome sight. Maurice was taken aback by the creature's appearance, but the Beast, despite his formidable exterior, did not harm the old man.
Instead, the Beast extended an offer to Maurice—shelter from the storm, warmth by the fire, and a meal. Grateful and astounded by the Beast's unexpected kindness, Maurice accepted the invitation and spent the night at the castle.
Meanwhile, back in the village, Belle grew increasingly worried about her father's prolonged absence. Driven by her unwavering love, she set out on a journey to find him. Equipped with a lantern and the determination to bring her father back safely, she ventured into the heart of the enchanted forest.
Belle's path led her through the dense woods, and her heart raced with a mixture of fear and hope. She finally arrived at the castle's entrance, its grand gates standing tall and imposing. As she stepped inside, she was greeted by the surreal sight of living objects, the same ones that had befriended her father.
Soon, Belle discovered her father's whereabouts, and the story of his encounter with the Beast was revealed. Deeply moved by her father's predicament and the Beast's unexpected kindness, Belle offered to take her father's place as the Beast's captive. The Beast agreed, and the gates of the castle creaked shut, sealing Belle's fate within its walls.
As the days passed, Belle and the Beast slowly began to understand each other. Fear turned to curiosity, and curiosity gave way to companionship. They danced in the grand ballroom, read books in the vast library, and shared stories over candlelit dinners. In this unique and enchanting world, Belle saw beyond the Beast's monstrous exterior and into the kind heart that lay within.
Conversely, the Beast began to grasp the meaning of true love and selflessness through Belle's actions. He learned to temper his anger and selfishness and found himself yearning for her presence. His hideous appearance and his isolation from the world were no longer as unbearable as they had once been.
Yet, as their bond grew stronger, an ominous reminder loomed over them—a magical rose encased in a glass dome. The rose was no ordinary flower; it was a manifestation of the curse that bound the Beast and his castle. As its petals withered and fell, the Beast's time was running out.
The enchantress who had cursed the prince had set a condition for the curse to be broken. He had to learn to love and, in return, earn someone's love before the last petal fell. The fate of the Beast and the enchanted objects hung in the balance.
As the final petal of the enchanted rose began to wilt, desperation and sorrow filled the castle. Belle realized the grave peril her captor faced. Her love for the Beast was true, and she was determined to save him from his cursed fate.
With only moments to spare, Belle rushed to the castle's grand hall, where the Beast lay injured after protecting her from a pack of hungry wolves. Tears welled up in her eyes as she confessed her love for him, her voice quivering with sincerity.
Just as the last petal began to descend, a brilliant and blinding light enveloped the room. The curse was broken, and the Beast's appearance transformed back into that of a handsome prince. He was no longer the monstrous creature who had once inhabited the castle. Instead, he was a prince who had learned the true meaning of love and selflessness.
The village rejoiced at the news of Belle's return and the transformation of the Beast. The prince and Belle were married in a grand ceremony, with the talking objects now free from their enchantment. Their love story served as a timeless reminder to all that true beauty lies within, and that kindness, compassion, and love have the power to transform even the darkest of hearts.
Belle and the Prince, whose name was revealed to be Adam, lived not only in the grandeur of the castle but also in the hearts of the villagers who had witnessed their remarkable journey from Beauty and the Beast. They were a testament to the enduring power of love, and their tale would be told for generations to come, a beacon of hope and a testament to the magic that existed in even the most unexpected places.
